Walk into Nelson J Salon in Beverly Hills and you’ll immediately enter a sleek, modern space with welcoming and friendly staff. Pop music jams in the background and the cool, loungy feel of the salon is hip and inviting, all at once.
I came in for a haircut and sat in the chair of salon owner and celebrity stylist, Nelson Chan, whose capable hands have graced the heads of Lady Gaga and Heather Graham. Chatting up Nelson while he worked on my hair was like conversing with an old friend while he expertly textured my hair and blew it out to professional, salon-caliber shape. As a treat, I also opted for an update to my highlights from colorist Ray Salazar. My strands were rapidly turning brassy, but Ray brought them back to a deliciously subtle hue and gave me the natural hints of color I was aiming for. The result was me walking out of the salon with my tresses ready to grace the pages of any beauty magazine (which is no small feat, may I add).
